How long have you been on the board?
Three years I think.
How did you first get involved with The Bone & Joint Journal?Like most people, I was a reader and then an author, and started reviewing for the journal after attending one of the reviewer’s days. I chatted to Emma at the BJJ stand at one of the conferences and that led to me starting to do primary editing, then eventually I was asked onto the board.
What is the best thing about being on the board?Quite aside from seeing the process of publication and being able to see the latest research freshly submitted, it’s great to get to know colleagues from around the country and around the world, most of whom were simply names on papers before I started.
What one piece of advice would you give to others who might like to get more involved with The Bone & Joint Journal?I think, write and review, reach out to us at the stand or by email and ask! The reviewer’s days are great to meet the team and work out where you fit within the process.
What song is top of your operating room playlist?I love music and have broad tastes in terms of what I listen to at home – having said that, in theatre, I let my anaesthetist choose so it’s mainly Tori Amos. I just focus on the operating…
