The significance of the ‘clicky hip’ in neonatal and infant examination
remains controversial with recent conflicting papers reigniting
the debate. We aimed to quantify rates of developmental dysplasia
of the hip (DDH) in babies referred with ‘clicky hips’ to our dedicated
DDH clinic. A three-year prospective cohort study was undertaken between
2014 and 2016 assessing the diagnosis and treatment outcomes of
all children referred specifically with ‘clicky hips’ as the primary
reason for referral to our dedicated DDH clinic. Depending on their
age, they were all imaged with either ultrasound scan or radiographs.Aims

Our aim in this paper was to investigate the
guidelines and laws governing informed consent in the English-speaking
world. We noted a recent divergence from medical paternalism within
the United Kingdom, highlighted by the Montgomery v Lanarkshire Health
Board ruling of 2015. We investigated the situation in the United
Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, and the United States of
America. We read the national guidance regarding obtaining consent
for surgical intervention for each country. We used the references
from this guidance to identify the laws that helped inform the guidance,
and reviewed the court documents for each case. There has been a trend towards a more patient-focused approach
in consent in each country. Surgeons should be aware of the guidance
and legal cases so that they can inform patients fully, and prevent

Recently, the field of tissue engineering has made numerous advances towards achieving artificial tendon substitutes with excellent mechanical and histological properties, and has had some promising experimental results. The purpose of this systematic review is to assess the efficacy of tissue engineering in the treatment of tendon injuries. We searched MEDLINE, Embase, and the Cochrane Library for the time period 1999 to 2016 for trials investigating tissue engineering used to improve tendon healing in animal models. Degenerative disc disease (DDD) and osteoarthritis (OA) are relatively frequent causes of disability amongst the elderly; they constitute serious socioeconomic costs and significantly impair quality of life. Previous studies to date have found that aggrecan variable number of tandem repeats (VNTR) contributes both to DDD and OA. However, current data are not consistent across studies. The purpose of this study was to evaluate systematically the relationship between aggrecan VNTR, and DDD and/or OA. This study used a highly sensitive search strategy to identify all published studies related to the relationship between aggrecan VNTR and both DDD and OA in multiple databases from January 1996 to December 2016. All identified studies were systematically evaluated using specific inclusion and exclusion criteria. Cochrane methodology was also applied to the results of this study.Objectives
Methods
The aim of this study was to determine if positive Waddell signs
were related to patients’ demographics or to perception of their
quality of life. This prospective cross-sectional study included 479 adult patients
with back pain from a university spine centre. Each completed SF-12
and Oswestry Disability Index (ODI) questionnaires and underwent
standard spinal examinations to elicit Waddell signs. The relationship
between Waddell signs and age, gender, ODI, Mental Component Score
(MCS), and Physical Component Score (PCS) scores was determined.Aims

revision total hip arthroplasty (THA). Dual mobility components
confer increased stability, but there are concerns about the unique
complications associated with these designs, as well as the long-term
survivorship. We performed a systematic review of all English language articles
dealing with dual mobility THAs published between 2007 and 2016
in the MEDLINE and Embase electronic databases. A total of 54 articles
met inclusion criteria for the final analysis of primary and revision
dual mobility THAs and dual mobility THAs used in the treatment
of fractures of the femoral neck. We analysed the survivorship and
rates of aseptic loosening and of intraprosthetic and extra-articular
