Patients with acetabular dysplasia demonstrate altered biomechanics during gate and other activities. We hypothesized that these patients exhibit a compensatory increase in the anterior pelvic tilt during gait. Twelve patients were included in this prospective radiographic and gait analysis study prior to the PAO. All were women. The mean age was 27 years (+/− 8 yrs). Tonnis grade was zero in nine, and one in three hips. All patients performed multiple one-minute walking trials on the level, the incline, and the decline treadmill surfaces in an optical motion capture lab. Anterior pelvic tilt is reported in (+), while the posterior pelvic tilt is reported in (–) values.Purpose
