View my account settingsA patient who presented with a malignant fibrous histiocytoma in the proximal femur after a total hip replacement is reported. The arthroplasty was of the Charnley-Muller type with detachment of the greater trochanter; polymethylmethacrylate cement was used. The possible tumour-forming effect of implant materials is discussed and the literature reviewed.
