View my account settingsTwo cases of idiopathic avascular necrosis of the scaphoid are reported and it is suggested that the aetiology could be the same as that recently described for Keinboeck's disease by Beckenbaugh et al. (1980). The condition described in this paper is a different entity from that described by Preiser (1910), which was probably not an osteochondritis but an undiagnosed fracture.
