The morphometry of the distal femur was largely studied to improve
bone-implant fit in total knee arthroplasty (TKA), but little is
known about the asymmetry of the posterior condyles. This study
aimed to investigate the dimensions of the posterior condyles and
the influence of externally rotating the femoral component on potential prosthetic
overhang or under-coverage. We analysed the shape of 110 arthritic knees at the time of primary
TKA using pre-operative CT scans. The height and width of each condyle
were measured at the posterior femoral cut in neutral position,
and in 3º and 5º of external rotation, using both central and medial
referencing systems. We compared the morphological characteristics

of a tibial strut autograft and characterize the rate of bony union
following its use. We retrospectively assessed a series of 104 patients from a single
centre who were treated with a tibial strut autograft of > 5 cm
in length. A total of 30 had a segmental reconstruction with continuity
of bone, 27 had a segmental reconstruction without continuity of
bone, 29 had an arthrodesis and 18 had a nonunion. Donor-site morbidity
was defined as any event that required a modification of the postoperative

A previously validated FE model of the human body in the driver-occupant position was used to investigate cervical hyperextension injury. The cervical spine was subjected to simulated whiplash exposure in accordance with Euro NCAP (the European New Car Assessment Programme) testing using the whole human FE model. internal fixation of displaced femoral neck fractures (FNFs) with
the Dynamic Locking Blade Plate (DLBP) in a young patient population
treated by various orthopaedic (trauma) surgeons. We present a multicentre prospective case series with a follow-up
of one year. All patients aged ≤ 60 years with a displaced FNF treated
with the DLBP between 1st August 2010 and December 2014 were included.

Five osteotomies were designed using Mimics software: sacroiliac, biplanar supra-acetabular, two parallel iliopubic and ischial. For cases of the left hemipelvis, PSIs were designed to guide standard oscillating saw osteotomies and later manufactured using 3D printing. Controversy about the use of an anatomical total shoulder arthroplasty
(aTSA) in young arthritic patients relates to which is the ideal
form of fixation for the glenoid component: cemented or cementless.
This study aimed to evaluate implant survival of aTSA when used
in patients aged < 60 years with primary glenohumeral osteoarthritis (OA),
and to compare the survival of cemented all-polyethylene and cementless
metal-backed glenoid components. A total of 69 consecutive aTSAs were performed in 67 patients
aged < 60 years with primary glenohumeral OA. Their mean age
at the time of surgery was 54 years (35 to 60). Of these aTSAs,
46 were undertaken using a cemented polyethylene component and 23
were undertaken using a cementless metal-backed component. The age, gender,
preoperative function, mobility, premorbid glenoid erosion, and
