The optimal management of posterior malleolar ankle fractures, a prevalent type of ankle trauma, is essential for improved prognosis. However, there remains a debate over the most effective surgical approach, particularly between screw and plate fixation methods. This study aims to investigate the differences in outcomes associated with these fixation techniques. We conducted a comprehensive review of clinical trials comparing anteroposterior (A-P) screws, posteroanterior (P-A) screws, and plate fixation. Two investigators validated the data sourced from multiple databases (MEDLINE, EMBASE, and Web of Science). Following PRISMA guidelines, we carried out a network meta-analysis (NMA) using visual analogue scale and American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Score (AOFAS) as primary outcomes. Medial humeral epicondyle fractures (MHEFs) are common elbow fractures in children. Open reduction should be performed in patients with MHEF who have entrapped intra-articular fragments as well as displacement. However, following open reduction, transposition of the ulnar nerve is disputed. The aim of this study is to evaluate the need for ulnar nerve exploration and transposition. This was a retrospective cohort study. The clinical data of patients who underwent surgical treatment of MHEF in our hospital from January 2015 to January 2022 were collected. The patients were allocated to either transposition or non-transposition groups. Data for sex, age, cause of fracture, duration of follow-up, Papavasiliou and Crawford classification, injury-to-surgery time, preoperative ulnar nerve symptoms, intraoperative exploration of ulnar nerve injury, surgical incision length, intraoperative blood loss, postoperative ulnar nerve symptoms, complications, persistent ulnar neuropathy, and elbow joint function were analyzed. Developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH) is a complex musculoskeletal disease that occurs mostly in children. This study aimed to investigate the molecular changes in the hip joint capsule of patients with DDH. High-throughput sequencing was used to identify genes that were differentially expressed in hip joint capsules between healthy controls and DDH patients. MicroRNAs are non-coding small RNAs that reportedly regulate mRNA targets or protein translation of various tissues in physiological and pathological contexts. This study was undertaken to characterise the contributions of microRNA-29a (miR-29a) to the progression of estrogen deficiency-mediated excessive osteoclast resorption and bone loss. Osteoblast-specific transgenic mice overexpressing miR-29a driven by osteocalcin promoter (C57BL/6JNarl-TgOCN-mir29a) or wild-type mice were subjected to bilateral ovariectomy. Bone mineral density, trabecular microarchitecture and osteoclast distribution was quantified by μCT and histomorphometry. fracture of the humerus in children. Correction can be performed
using one of a number of techniques of osteotomy but each has disadvantages.
We describe a new technique for correcting post-traumatic cubitus
varus using a lateral closing wedge isosceles triangular osteotomy. A lateral closing wedge isosceles triangular osteotomy was performed
in 25 patients (15 male and ten female with a mean age of 9.5 years
(6 to 12)) between May 2010 and April 2013. All patients had cubitus
varus secondary to malunion of a supracondylar fracture, with good
function of the elbow and a full range of movement. The osteotomy
lines were marked on the bone with an isosceles triangular template
made before surgery, after which the osteotomy was performed leaving
the medial cortex intact. Fixation was performed using two lateral
2 mm Kirschner (K)-wires and patients were immobilised in an above-elbow
plaster. By six to eight weeks callus was present and the wires
and cast were removed. Patients were reviewed at four and six weeks,
three, six and 12 months and then every two years until skeletal
maturity. Clinical and radiographic outcomes were categorised as excellent,

Methotrexate chemotherapy (commonly used in treating cancers and rheumatoid arthritis) creates an inflammatory condition in bone, decreasing osteogenesis, enhancing adipogenesis, increasing osteoclastogenesis, leading to bone loss and marrow adiposity; treatment with fish oil or folinic acid counteracts these negative effects and prevents bone loss. Chemotherapy with anti-metabolite methotrexate (MTX) is commonly used in treating cancers and rheumatoid arthritis; however it is known to cause bone loss for which currently there are no adjunct preventative treatments.Summary

Percutaneous iliosacral screw placement is a standard, stabilization technique for pelvic fractures. The purpose of this study was to assess the effectiveness of a novel biplanar robot navigation aiming system for percutaneous iliosacral screw placement in a human cadaver model. A novel biplanar robot navigation aiming system was used in 16 intact human cadaveric pelvises for percutaneous iliosacral screw insertion. The number of successful screw placements and mean time for this insertion and intra-operative fluoroscopy per screw-pair were recorded respectively to evaluate the procedure. The accuracy of the aiming process was evaluated by computed tomography.Objectives

Failure of total hip arthroplasty with acetabular deficiency occurred in 55 patients (60 hips) and was treated with acetabular revision using morsellised allograft and a cemented metal-backed component. A total of 50 patients (55 hips) were available for clinical and radiological evaluation at a mean follow-up of 5.8 years (3 to 9.5). No hip required further revision of the acetabular component because of aseptic loosening. All the hips except one had complete incorporation of the allograft demonstrated on the radiographs. A complete radiolucent line of >
1 mm was noted in two hips post-operatively. A good to excellent result occurred in 50 hips (91%). With radiological evidence of aseptic loosening of the acetabular component as the end-point, the survivorship at a mean of 5.8 years after surgery was 96.4%. The use of impacted allograft chips in combination with a cemented metal-backed acetabular component and screw fixation can achieve good medium-term results in patients with acetabular bone deficiency.
