Total Ankle replacement designs continue to evolve, and provide an alternative to ankle arthrodesis for patients with ankle arthritis. It has been our practice to offer total ankle replacement to selected patients with ankle arthritis. The purpose of this study was to analyse the short term results of our patients with the Mobility R Total Ankle Replacement (TAR) system. All patients who received TAR in our practice from 2004 to 2011 were reviewed. American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Scores AOFAS were assessed and compared both preoperatively and at time of follow-up. All complications both intra-operative and post-operatively were noted. Weight bearing X-rays were taken at follow-up, and implant alignment and the presence of lucencies were noted.Introduction
