In this cross sectional study, the impact and the efficacy of a surveillance programme for sarcomas of the extremities was analysed. All patients who had treatment with curative intent for a high-grade sarcoma and were diagnosed before 2014 were included and followed for a minimum of two years. Objectives
Methods
To determine the morbidity and mortality outcomes of patients
presenting with a fractured neck of femur in an Australian context.
Peri-operative variables related to unfavourable outcomes were identified
to allow planning of intervention strategies for improving peri-operative
care. We performed a retrospective observational study of 185 consecutive
adult patients admitted to an Australian metropolitan teaching hospital
with fractured neck of femur between 2009 and 2010. The main outcome
measures were 30-day and one-year mortality rates, major complications
and factors influencing mortality. Objectives
Methods
To assess the sensitivity and specificity of self-reported osteoporosis
compared with dual energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) defined osteoporosis,
and to describe medication use among participants with the condition. Data were obtained from a population-based longitudinal study
and assessed for the prevalence of osteoporosis, falls, fractures
and medication use. DXA scans were also undertaken. Objectives
