Introduction

Most common osteoporotic fracture

20-30% of patients with OVFs are presented to hospital while 2.2 million remain undiagnosed, as diagnosis is usually opportunistic

66,000 OVFs occur annually in the UK with increase by 18,000 cases a year until 2025.

20% chance of another OVF in next 12 months and 3 times risk of hip fracture.

Acute painful OVFs poorly tolerated by infirm elderly patients, leading to significant morbidity and 8 times increase in age-adjusted mortality.

Materials and Methods

Classify fracture severity and patents with ovfs in 12-month period.

To assess follow-up status and if kyphoplasty was offered within 6 weeks as per NICE guidelines.

To introduce Royal Osteoporosis Society and GIRFT guidelines on management of symptomatic osteoporotic vertebral fractures

Abstract

Background

1. 63,284 patients presented with neck of femur fractures in England in 2020 (NHFD report 2021)2. To maximise theatre efficiency during the first wave of COVID-19, NHSE guidance recommended the use of HA for most patients requiring arthroplasty.3. The literature reports an incidence of Hemiarthroplasty dislocations of 1–15%.

Aims

1. To study the number and possible causes of dislocations in patients with Primary hemiarthroplasty for fracture neck of femur2. To compare our data with national and international data in terms of dislocation and revision rates for Hemiarthroplasty.

Abstract

Background

Rotator cuff injuries have traditionally been managed by either single-row or double-row arthroscopic repair techniques. Novel and more complex single-row methodologies have recently been proposed as a biomechanically stronger alternative. However, no rigorous meta-analysis has evaluated the effectiveness of complex single-row against double-row repair. This meta-analysis aims to evaluate clinical outcomes in patients with full-thickness rotator cuff injuries treated with both simple and complex single-row, as well as transosseous-equivalent double-row procedures.

Methods

An up-to-date literature search was performed using the pre-defined search strategy. All studies that met the inclusion criteria were assessed for methodological quality and included in the meta-analysis. Pain score, functional score, range-of-motion and Re-tear rate were all considered in the study.
